Conversations in Times of Tension: Lessons from the First 2026 Meeting of the Purpose-Driven Leadership Community
Crisis management and conflict resolution remain among the most complex challenges facing organizations. This is not only because they test teams’ ability to respond, but also because they reveal how trust, leadership, and collaboration are built or eroded during times of high pressure.
In this context, we held the first 2026 meeting of the Purpose-Driven Leadership Community, an event that brought together community members, board members, and representatives from various organizations to collectively reflect on how to approach difficult conversations and manage tensions within teams.
The event was held in partnership with Dominó, part of Grupo Cadaqués, which welcomed the community to a space designed to foster open conversation, the exchange of experiences, and the development of shared learning.
Rather than seeking single answers or rigid models, the meeting created a space to pause and observe how organizations are currently dealing with situations of uncertainty, pressure, and strained relationships. This is because conflicts often arise not only from differences of opinion, but also from difficulties in communicating in a timely manner, managing disagreements, or fostering an environment of psychological trust.
Throughout the day, two discussion sessions were held in which participants shared specific experiences, everyday challenges, and practices that have enabled them to address complex situations within their teams and organizations.
One of the most significant points that emerged during the discussions was the need to understand conflict not as an isolated problem, but as an expression of deeper cultural dynamics. In many cases, tensions arise when organizations grow, change, or face high-pressure situations, and the ability to communicate becomes a key factor in maintaining connections, coordination, and a shared purpose.
There was also a strong consensus that leading in times of crisis requires developing new skills: active listening, creating safe spaces, facilitating difficult conversations, and making decisions without losing sight of the human impact they have on individuals and teams.
Beyond individual learning, the gathering provided an opportunity to recognize the value of building a community among organizations that share similar concerns. Hearing diverse experiences, comparing perspectives, and acknowledging common challenges not only broadens our horizons but also strengthens our ability to learn collectively.
If one thing became clear during this first meeting, it is that organizations increasingly need spaces where conversation—even about difficult topics—is part of the culture. Spaces where leadership is built not only on answers, but also on the ability to pose questions, open up dialogue, and build trust amid complexity.
The Purpose-Driven Leadership Community will continue to promote these types of gatherings, driven by the conviction that transforming organizations also means transforming the way we interact, collaborate, and tackle challenges together.
